CHALLENGING INFO
WHAT IS
CHALLENGING?
The challenge ladder is used to determine who plays on which teams for Tennis on Campus tournaments. Being ranked on the ladder will help you to play others at your skill level and win tournaments throughout the year! Please know that being on the ladder is an opportunity, and thus is not required in order to be a member. However, if you want to compete in tournaments you must be on a team.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
At the beginning of each semester, we hold an intra-club ranking tournament.
Ranking will be based on tournament results. The ladder will reset every year, with initial positions being based off both results and observation of skills.
Past members who are unable to play in the ranking tournament will not retain their ladder position, but will rather be moved down no more than 2 teams at the discretion of the officers.
During the school year, you are allowed to challenge anyone on the team directly above you.
The individual being challenged will get to choose between doubles or singles (no mixed doubles).
If you need to know how to challenge someone, please read the challenging rules here:
The challenge match can be played in any scoring format of choice, as long as both players agree on it.
If doubles, the partners can only be chosen from the team of the each player's own team and below. Partners' ranking are not effected by the playing of the challenge match.
An important note - if playing doubles, no pairing can last for more than 2 matches in a row.
Any member not on the ladder, (in the pool) may work their way up by challenging a member of Team 9.
A player can only be challenged once a week and their name will be red if they are off limits.
